Ford released the all new Raptor less than a year ago but it already looks like the company is about to release an update. So far the details are still scarce but it looks like the car will hit the market with the future 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor. The truck will come with an updated powertrain and likely a few changes to its running gear as well. The end result should be a faster and more aggressive vehicle that will allow Ford to maintain their domination on the full-size truck market. Even though the manufacturer decided to keep quiet so far, it looks like the future Raptor is well under development.

Ford F-150 Raptor tuned! No, it’s not a joke and we’ve seen this. Usually we see this with sport cars but never yet with the pickup. TRA-Kyoto, a renowned Japanese tuning garage, recently launched the “wide-body kit” prototype for the F-150 Raptor.

2019 Ford F-150 Raptor Review

The new Raptor could get slightly beefier Fox racing shocks, likely different spring rates as well as new steel skid-plates.

Despite what some suggested, this is not going to be an entirely new model. Instead, the future 2019 version of the truck will be a mid-life update meant to get the Raptor back to the top of its class.

As most experts previously suggested, the truck will likely feature the same high strength steel chassis as before. However, the running gear might be new this time around. The new Raptor could get slightly beefier Fox racing shocks, likely different spring rates as well as new steel skid-plates.

All of these should allow it to be quite a bit more resilient in off-road without being much heavier than before. On top of that, the truck is likely going to benefit from new brakes which are a slightly issue with the ongoing model.

As before, the body will remain made out of aluminum. This lightweight material will give it the durability and flexibility it needs to succeed. The only real drawback of aluminum has to be its not the most repairable material out there.

Release and Price

The price of the truck will likely hover around $52,000 for a base model.

2019 Ford F-150 Raptor Engine and Specs

One of the biggest changes to happen will be under the hood of the 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor.

One of the biggest changes to happen will be under the hood of the 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor. The older 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged V6 is likely here to stay. This should continue to provide 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque which is a respectable amount of power for this class.

However, the big change will be the addition of a new 7.0 liter naturally aspirated V8. This engine is currently under development but it is a well known fact it is a new DOHC mill. While the details are still scarce, the engine is likely going to make right around 500 to 550 horsepower and over 500 lb-ft of torque.

Even though this is not considerably more than the V6, it should be quite a bit more impressive as it will make that power higher up the rev-range. The engine will be quite a match for this truck and it will likely make the Raptor one of the most fun to drive trucks on the market.

Redesign

For now it looks like the 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor is not going to be all that different from its predecessor.

For now it looks like the 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor is not going to be all that different from its predecessor. We can expect it to boast roughly the same front end with the large Ford badge and the blacked out exterior inserts.

The big difference will likely be the hood. If the rumors are correct then the truck equipped with the new V8 engine will feature a massive hood scoop. This should allow the new engine to breathe better while also giving it a ram-air effect.

The interior on the other hand will likely remain unchanged, at least when it comes to the general feel. However, some did say the truck will get a new steering wheel, possibly a new infotainment system and likely a new set of materials.

A version with the interior fully wrapped in Alcantara is also a real possibility. We also hope for it to get new seats, possibly Recaro, but unfortunately Ford didn’t say much about this just yet.
