2019 Chevrolet Suburban Overview

Meet the modern iteration of the industry’s oldest nameplate: the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban offers the largest body of all Chevy SUVs and a strong V8, giving it ultimate passenger- and cargo-hauling capabilities.

What’s New for the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban?

Not much, unfortunately. Chevy is likely to introduce a new Suburban generation for 2020, so the 2019 model stays pretty close to last year.

The largest update for 2019 is the introduction of a new Suburban RST Performance Package for the Premier trim level. This package originally first appeared on the Tahoe last year, and was so popular Chevy decided to carry it over to the larger sibling.

The RST Performance Package includes a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 L86 engine (making 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque), a Hydra-Matic 10-apeed automatic transmission, GM’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension, a two-speed active transfer case for 4WD, a 3.23 rear axle ration, a larger 170-amp alternator, a high-capacity air cleaner, and 22-inch wheels.

Other updates mostly revolve around a new color, Shadow Gray Metallic. In exchange, Chevy deleted two older colors, Havana Metallic and Tungsten Metallic. Finally, Chevy redesigned the tailgate badge for the Premier trim.
