2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Reg/Ext Dually: Spied
We're beginning to see quite a few captured images of the newly restyled and upgraded Chevrolet heavy-duty pickups, with the latest batch giving us a pretty good look at the size and shape of the Silverado 3500 dually models getting ready for their final testing runs. We don't have all the details yet (we're hoping to get more info at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit), but we should be hearing more about the new products and strategy in the coming weeks.

We now have the first uncovered shots of the 2020 Chevy Silverado as a 3500 dually, with our best look yet at the regular-cab and double-cab configurations. While Chevrolet has pulled the wraps off a couple of variants of its new HD earlier, they only showed Silverado 2500 crew-cab models with the standard beds.
These new spy shots give us our first looks at the regular-cab and double-cab variants bereft of the heavy vinyl camouflage, so we get our best feel for how they work within the confines of the 2020 HD's new design language. We also get an excellent look at the flared dually box that will be applied to the one-ton models. With the polarizing frontal styling (perhaps toned down a bit on these simpler work-truck-trimmed vehicles), GM's new trucks certainly aren't wallflowers.
We're told these latest HD prototypes are testing the two new or updated engines destined for GM's HD lineup: The regular-cab 3500 HD work-truck dually is powered by the updated Duramax diesel V-8 and its new Allison 10-speed transmission (stickers indicating a U.S.-spec diesel and diesel exhaust fluid are prominent placed around the fuel door). We've heard rumors the new diesel should be good for 910 pounds-feet of torque, while horsepower figures remain unverified.
GM's new gasoline V-8 engine looks to be powering the double-cab dually prototype (stickers call for regular unleaded near the fuel door). This new gasoline V-8 is expected to up GM current HD power and torque ratings - likely thanks to its rumored Navistar-sourced 6.6-liter V-8 engine, reportedly good for a bump up to 400 horsepower and 450 pounds-feet of torque.
