2020 Jeep Gladiator Rear Driveshaft: Recall Alert
By Patrick Masterson
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 3,400 model-year 2020 Jeep Gladiator pickup trucks
The Problem: The rear driveshafts may have been incorrectly assembled without grease in the monoblock joint, which may cause overheating and a seizure. This could cause the driveshaft to fracture, resulting in a sudden loss of drive power. If the driveshaft completely separates, it may become a road hazard. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the driveshaft for free.
What Owners Should Do: Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners Oct. 18. Owners can call FCA at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
