2020 Ram 1500 TRX Caught Roaming the Mountains: Spied
There's been plenty of speculation surrounding the on-again/off-again status of the dramatic-looking 2020 Ram 1500 TRX, first shown to a drooling media audience in Rebel trim as a concept in Texas. Now it seems there is both visual and audio proof that the big V-8-powered half-ton pickup truck already has received the green light and should be on dealer lots in a little over a year. Here's what our spy shooters just sent us.
"Today we caught up to a mule for the Ram 1500 TRX in northern Arizona.
"This particular half ton was caught testing alongside a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Our photographer can also confirm that the pickup was packing a Hellcat engine as it emitted a glorious Hellcat whine as the engineer tried to flee from our photographer.
"The TRX mule, here dressed in Bighorn trim, had aftermarket Fuel rims and some sort of frame rail support/bracket that extends from the axle area all the way to the rear doors, suggesting the Ram rear end needs extra support to handle all of that torque. Ram debuted the Rebel TRX concept at the State Fair of Texas back in 2016.
"A source familiar with the project has confirmed to us that the TRX will get the full 707-horsepower of the Hellcat and not the detuned 575-hp version seen in the concept. Expect an official debut sometime in 2019."
