How We’d Get It: The Brabus Adventure Is The Off-Road Explorer’s Mercedes G-Class

October 29, 2019

The BRABUS Adventure is mental

What began life as a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, has become the ultimate high-dollar off-road statement in the Brabus Adventure. More than a trim package or a paint job, the Adventure is a comprehensive upgrade on every level. Unfortunately, the turbo-diesel version they released is not available in the United States — yet.

This is a top to bottom upgrade from the power plant, electronics, suspension, interior, exterior, rubber and trim. They added the Brabus Widestar widebody kit and 20-inch Monoblock R wheels on off-road 285/55 R20 rubber.

Here’s what BRABUS has to say about this G-Class:

“Under the WIDESTAR fender flares at the front and rear axle, which add ten centimeters (4 in) to the width of the G-Class, the BRABUS ADVENTURE version is fitted with tailor-made BRABUS Monoblock R alloys of size 9.5Jx20. The wheels with ten dimensionally offset pairs of double-spokes were painted semi-gloss black for the car on the photos.”

Brabus upgraded the power output of the G 350d an additional 44 horsepower. Torque is increased by 44 lb-ft. With 330 hp at 4,400 rpm and 509 lb-ft at 2,500 rpm, Brabus says it can easily handle a 100 percent grade.

According to Brabus, the Adventure can go from 0 to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds and it has a top speed of 126 mph.

The skid-plate and hood (among other things) are made from carbon fiber. They added a roof-rack that holds items like a spade and axe. There are additional components which are made from aluminum. This includes the pedals.

Suspension engineers developed special height-adjustable Brabus Adventure sport springs. These springs work with the electronically controlled, height-adjustable G-Class suspension. This setup allows the BRABUS Adventure to be raised up an additional 1.6-inches over the G-Model.

Pricing is not available yet, but it’s likely well beyond what the standard G
