Does a Hummer H2 Make for a Good Snow Plow Truck? We Put It to Work! (Video)
The 2003 Hummer H2 is still in our midst. This time it’s all about helping to clear snow after a spring Colorado storm. The H2 was our project truck. The goal was to make it more overland-worthy for longer trips and more serious off-roading.
The front steering components were upgraded with heavier duty Cognito Motorsports parts. The truck rides on 35-inch BFGoodrich KM2 tires. Take a look at this Hummer H2 project parts list for more details.
This time is was all about hitching up a light utility snow plow and clearing some snow. The SnowSport plow attachment went into the front-mounted hitch receiver on the H2, but it was not without a fight. The front hitch receiver has a vertical pin, but the plow attachment has a regular horizontal pin location. A custom-made adapter was needed to get it all setup.
The H2 is relatively tall, so I used a height-adjustable hitch to lower the plow attachment. Once all of that was figured out, the fun ensued.
I have owned this Hummer H2 for about nine months now. I have taking it camping. It has towed our 6,000 lbs boat to the lake, and it has been a weekly runabout. I put under 3,000 miles on the truck in that period of time. It has not given any major problems. It has a rough idle when starting in the cold, and the oil pressure gauge is always showing maximum pressure (80 psi).
