Too bad it's forbidden fruit.

There's only one other country that shares America's off-roading obsession: Australia. Not only that, Aussies love powerful V8s and aftermarket accessories. And now Ford Australia has teamed up with fellow Australian off-road accessories company ARB to collaborate on a pair of extremely cool 4x4s.

Both the Ford Ranger and Everest SUV have been fitted with the ultimate adventure gear that'll soon be available through selected Ford dealerships down under. All accessories are covered by a five-year warranty. Some of the new accessories will include winch-compatible bull-bars, electric winches and driving lights, canopies, suspension systems, and sidesteps.

Ford Australia's engineering team tested and validated ARB's products over thousands of miles of serious driving in the outback and its own proving ground near Melbourne. "

A lot of our customers have told us they'd love to be able to access a wider range of quality off-road accessories through our Ford dealership network, and this collaboration will mean they can head off-road safely with access to a range of ARB accessories," says Andrew Birkic, President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand.

The Ford Ranger, which rides on the T6 platform, is a global model though there are some styling and packaging differences for different markets.

ARB is an Australian company though it does craft accessories for other markets. Here in the US, for example, some of its products, such as protection bars, are available for the US-spec Ranger, Bronco, and F-Series and are branded as "Ford Performance by ARB."

The Australia and New Zealand-only Everest SUV also rides on this platform, thus making it easy for ARB to create custom parts for both vehicles.

Late last year, Ford introduced its own in-house modified Everest, called the BaseCamp (pictured below), equipped with off-ready gear like a snorkel, nudge bar with a built-in LED light bar, roof rack, and a tow bar. Neither Ford nor ARB announced pricing for the new accessories but they're due in Ford dealers in the second half of the year.
