Video: Formula D driver takes Ford F-150 Raptor on 'Green Hell' circuit at the Nurburgring
Who said Nurburgring was only for sports cars?
While the iconic German test track typically sees sleek high performance vehicles pursuing lap records, Formula D driver Vaugh Gittin Jr. had other plans during his visit to the Green Hell.
After weather conditions prevented him from being able to take his Ford Mustang RTR for a spin, Gittin chose an interesting substitute to take drifting around the 12.9-mile loop: a Ford F-150 Raptor.
With off-road shock absorbers and a switchable all-wheel drive system featuring individual terrain modes, Ford didn’t build this three ton monster with slick race tracks in mind.
However, Gittin managed to put on quite a show with the 450-horsepower Raptor, pulling off some nasty slides as he circled what’s widely considered the world’s toughest circuit.
Although Gittin and his Raptor didn’t give any Nordschleife record holders a run for their money, he definitely proved you can have just as much fun with a pickup truck on The Ring.
Check out the video above to see some of Gittin’s laps on the legendary course.
