GMC Syclone Revived as a Specialty Vehicle Engineering Custom Model
The 2019 GMC Canyon will now receive the Syclone treatment
Back in 1991, GMC produced a high-performance version of its Sonoma pickup truck called the GMC Syclone. Now, this moniker is making its return, albeit unofficially.
Specialty Vehicle Engineering is introducing an all-new GMC Syclone.
Specialty Vehicle Engineering is a tuner that specializes in modifying GM-produced vehicles. Previously, the company worked on a 1,000-horsepower Yenko Corvette.
The company’s latest project will be a resurrected Syclone. Only this time, it will be based on a 2019 GMC Canyon.
A supercharged 3.6-liter V6 engine replaces the 2019 GMC Colorado’s standard engine. Doing so increases the Syclone’s power output to 455 horsepower. The original GMC Syclone also came with a custom supercharged engine, which, at the time, produced approximately 280 horsepower.
While the original Syclone was only available in black, this new iteration is available in any of the Colorado’s factory-issued exterior colors. Drivers also have the option to equip the Syclone with two-wheel or four-wheel drive.
Inside, drivers will find specialty “Syclone” seat trimming and floor mats. The truck also includes a numbered plaque on the dashboard.
Of course, these Syclone trucks will be quite the rare ticket item. Only 100 Syclone models are set to be created, making it a collectible piece of automotive memorabilia.
The price of the conversion is set at $39,995. Customers will also have to pay for the standard price of the 2019 GMC Canyon.
These trucks can be ordered via select dealerships, although customers will have to act fast if they want to order a GMC Syclone to call their own.
