Here's what we think it'll look like.

The Chevrolet Colorado has always looked the best and been the best it can be with the ZR2 package, but a hardcore Silverado is something we've been wanting for some time. A Chevy designer whet our appetites for just such a machine with a futuristic rendering earlier this year, and we ourselves had a crack at it, albeit with ZL1-inspired styling cues. These efforts have now proven not to be in vain, as Chevrolet has just teased the Silverado ZR2, and of course, we're all itching to see what it will look like. While we don't know for sure just yet, here's a pretty good idea.

From what the teaser shows us (not that there is very much to see in the video), it appears that the ZR2 will get special wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler off-road tires. We also expect bigger fenders and a raised ride height, along with a beefy skidplate with space for a pair of tow hooks. A front-mounted winch could feature too, as may a steel front bumper, roll hoops, a light bar, and sturdy rock sliders. We've rendered ours in the dusty brown hue that features on the Colorado, but as a top-tier offering, some bespoke colors would likely feature too.

Sadly, that 15-second teaser tells us nothing specific about what will power this hardcore Silverado, but the exhaust note suggests GM's 6.2-liter V8. If it does get fitted here with no alterations, it would be down on power compared to the likes of the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram TRX, but GM is no stranger to supercharging, so it's almost definite that this most extreme variant of the Silverado will get a bit more oomph. We hope that some sort of forced induction makes its way to this truck, but manufacturers have surprised us before. Who knows?

Maybe the Silverado ZR2 will get a boost from a mild-hybrid system. We'll report back as and when we learn more.
