Zach Ingram and his 2016 Toyota Tacoma will take part in the March 15 episode of “Truck Night in America” on The History Channel.
Zach Ingram really likes his 2016 Toyota Tacoma truck.
So did producers of The History Channel’s “Truck Night in America,” which debuts nationally at 10 p.m. Thursday.
Ingram, a 2003 graduate of Central Hardin High School, sent an application about his orange truck with blue trim to the show as they sought unique trucks from around the country for the 10-episode series.
Ingram’s truck was one of 50 selected to be showcased in the series as trucks meet terrain in various competitions. His appearance airs at 10 p.m. March 15.
The winner of each episode earns $10,000.
Competitors face off on three course challenges testing speed, strength and handling, according to the series website.
Ingram said he “was one of the lucky ones” to get selected. He said the application process included information about his truck and photographs of it.
He said his episode was filmed in September in Augusta, Georgia. He said he’s unsure how he finished in the competition and was unable to say too much about the episode, citing a non-disclosure clause from the show.
He called the experience “neat and exciting.”
“Just to see how it all was put together,” he said.
He said his Tacoma “stands out from a lot of vehicles.”
“It’s shiny and has some flashing lights on it,” he said. “I bought it in 2016 and I’ve been building it up from there with different things.”
Ingram, the father of three children — Kamdyn, Hunter and Makaylah — said the competition course featured plenty of obstacles and challenges.
“The course seemed geared toward the strength of a vehicle at least once,” he said.
He said he knew of competitors coming from as far as Maine and Colorado to take part in the series.
According to the series website, drivers are aided by four expert coaches who “offer tough love and their professional perspective on each contender’s strategy and performance.”
