Next Toyota Tundra Looking At Hybrid To Beat The Odds?
The Toyota Tundra may not be as popular as the RAM 1500, Ford F-150 and the Chevrolet Silverado but it can be proud for being the best non-US full-sized pickup truck around.
But then again, things are not looking great for the Tundra as the political situation in the US has signalled on a financial disadvantage with the vehicle in the future and this has given Toyota a huge headache to cope with.
With future taxes on its way to hit every vehicle from Toyota, the carmaker is now working on a counter-measure that can protect the Tundra from a decline.
The carmaker admitted to this earlier today and the solution which they have identified is a new TNGA platform made for the Tundra. The details are unclear at the moment but if the TNGA platform on their non-trucks is to be referred to, we are expecting a lighter and more versatile setup with the large pickup truck.
For all we know, the next TNGA platform may allow the Tundra to work with a full hybrid powertrain and this can make the pickup truck unique from the competition.
The certainty here is that the TNGA platform for the Tundra will be a modded variant of the ones used on Toyota’s everyday cars hence allowing the carmaker to cut production cost.
