Time to hop in and go on an adventure.
Nissan is gearing up for this year's Tokyo Auto Salon with a range of production models and concepts, including the Caravan Mountain Base van. Like previous van concepts, this one is based on the latest generation JDM Caravan, which received a facelift for 2022. The Mountain Base Concept is all about taking "base camp" to the next level. Think of it as a self-sufficient adventure van.
It comes equipped with goodies like a roof-mounted foldout solar panel. Additional panels bolted to the vehicle's side replace conventional glass windows. The interior is where things get even more interesting. There's a workstation, so-called utility-driven walls, and, best of all, a digital fireplace for when it's time to kick back and relax.
Nissan wanted to be sure the concept actually looks like an off-the-beaten-path vehicle so it added a textured exterior finish that can handle rough terrain and brush. There's even a full wood-grain wrap to help get into that mountain lodge mentality. A second Caravan concept, pictured at the very bottom, will also make an appearance at the show.
The Caravan Myroom Concept is very appropriately named. It basically shows what can be done when the NV350 Caravan's interior is given a major makeover. Amenities like a built-in couch placed directly next to the doors so that occupants have an outside view have been custom-built. There are even bookshelves and cupboards in this "modern lounge space."
