Here's everything you need to know so far.
It's amazing what can be found when browsing through an automaker's ordering system. A member of the Bronco6G forum was doing just that with the Blue Oval's online network when they come across something most interesting: a new 2022 model year body code, dubbed E5J. It didn't exist for 2021.
Following some further examination, the system indicates a Ford Bronco Raptor will indeed launch sometime in 2022 and it'll be offered in two different flavors.
The first is the base Raptor, internally referred to as 373A, and a more premium version called 374A. As expected, the Raptor will be four-door only. Specific packaging details, namely the engine and other off-road accessories, are not yet available.
Chances are, the Bronco Raptor will come powered by either the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower or the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with 450 hp. These engines currently power the Explorer ST and F-150 Raptor, respectively. The Bronco Raptor will offer premium goodies like adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel, a luxury package, and a wireless charging pad.
A new color option was listed as well, called Code Orange. This would be in addition to the recently announced Eruption Green and Hot Pepper Red. Several months ago, Ford released a single shot of a hardcore off-road Bronco covered in camouflage testing outdoors.
It differs from the current SUV thanks to larger fender flares, a suspension lift kit, skid plates, and restyled front bumpers. Bear in mind this prototype could potentially be the also rumored Bronco Warthog. In any case, the badass Bronco we crave is coming soon.
The forum leak also exposes a new trim level only for the four-door Bronco called Everglades. Just a few colors will be available, including a new one called Desert Sand, but no additional details are available just yet.
New vehicles for the 2022 model year are already in production so we probably won't have to wait too long until Ford unveils its next rough and rumble SUV.
