Take My Money! Is The Jeep J6 the Ultimate 2 Door Jeep Gladiator Truck Meant To Tease Us All? (Video)

April 16, 2019

The Jeep J6 two-door pickup truck concept in Moab, Utah.

One of the highlights for us at the Eater Jeep Safari is driving concept vehicles, this includes the Jeep J6 truck concept. Unlike a majority of concept vehicles at the event, the Jeep J6 two-door pickup truck concept was not based on a Jeep Gladiator. It is actually based on a Jeep Wrangler JL platform.

While power comes from the same 3.6-liter V6 that powers the regular Wrangler JL and Gladiator (along with the eight-speed automatic transmission) – it hauls a lot. According to Jeep, the Jeep J6 two-door pickup truck concept can tow 7,650 lbs and haul a payload of 1,600 lbs. That’s outstanding in any market.

This is a much shorter vehicle than the Gladiator. It has the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited’s 118.4″ wheelbase and it has a longer six-foot bed.

“Additional modifications defend the Jeep J6 against off-road obstacles, including a prototype two-inch steel stinger bar that bolts to the Rubicon front bumper and rock rails customized with two-inch steel tubes welded to the standard Jeep Gladiator rails. The concept hardtop is removable. The classic Jeep J6 badging is swapped on the tailgate and side fenders.” – Jeep

Journalists begged Jeep to build the J6. The Jeep J6 concept is, by far, their most popular vehicle at this year’s Easter Jeep Safari.

In this video, we get a detailed walk-around of the J6 with the added bonus of a (very) brief desert drive.
