According to an important Ford employee who is patiently waiting for theirs.

If you're on the waiting list for a 2021 Ford Bronco, you may want to hold off until the 2022 model arrives. Many Bronco pre-order customers have already been pushed back to the 2022 model year after numerous delays, meaning their wait could be pretty long. That wait could be worth it, though, as Ford's North American Product Communications Manager Mike Levine has already confirmed that the 2022 Bronco will have some new colors that aren't available on the 2021 model.

Levine is quite active on Twitter, where he frequently responds to customer inquiries about the Bronco and other Ford products. As an avid off-road enthusiast, Levine had planned to order a 2021 Bronco as his company car; but in response to a follower asking how Levine planned to build his car, he gave an interesting update.

After much consideration, I’m going to wait until 22MY. There are new colors and special editions coming that have me intrigued. ???? In the meantime, I’ll be replacing my Ranger FX4 with a Ranger Tremor - Cactus Gray of course to match the Bronco Sport.

We already knew that Ford would swap the color palette for the 2022 Bronco, but this is the first official confirmation that there will be new special editions. This year's First Edition (pictured above) offers an exclusive Lighting Blue color, and Ford recently added a new Black Onyx interior option instead of the Dark Space Gray With Navy Pier combination. The First Edition also includes a slew of other upgrades, including the Sasquatch package.

Ford quickly sold out of all 3,500 First Edition Broncos before doubling production to 7,000 units. It makes sense for this model to go away in the 2022 model year and based on rumors, we expect it to be replaced by a new Heritage Edition version. In his tweet, Levine mentions "special editions" in the plural, so perhaps we could see other unique models as well.
