This Is The Bronco Special Edition Ford Performance Must Build

21 hours ago by Jay Traugott Off-Road

How hard can this be, right?

Serious Ford Bronco and off-road racing fans are familiar with Rod Hall, an off-road pro racing driver from the 1960s who won multiple class victories in the event that's since become the Baja 1000. Heavily modified original Ford Broncos were often his vehicle of choice, and they had a unique livery. Now that the Bronco has returned to the market, it was only a matter of time until someone thought of applying Hall's old Bronco racing livery to its modern-day ancestor.

Abimelec Design has done just that with these awesome new renderings. It's clear the SUV shown here is the redesigned two-door model, though there are a number of exterior modifications. But the most prominent change is the livery and it happens to look fantastic here.

The red, white, and blue color combo suits the new Bronco perfectly. As for those modifications, there are KC lights on the bumper and on top of the windshield along with five-spoke wheels with big and beefy tires. The ride height also seems to have been raised in order to accommodate them. And, of course, there's no roof, doors, or even a rear seat. None of them are necessary for off-road racing. But what's under the hood is perhaps the most important thing on our wish list.

Instead of the stock Bronco's 2.3-liter or 2.7-liter engines, the artist has something far better in mind: the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 from the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, which produces a grand total of 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque.

The most powerful Bronco that'll soon go on sale has 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of twist, just to compare. Given that Ford Performance has already built and raced a prototype Bronco at the Baja 1000, it does make sense to take things to the next level, at least with the engine. If that's not done in an official capacity, it's only a matter of time until a private racing team makes the engine swap.

The cool livery would be the icing on the cake.
