A Minnesota dealer is adding a '70s flair to modern Silverados

If you’re a fan of the current Chevrolet Silverado but yearn for the looks of the classic square body Chevy pickups, you might want to get your wallet out.
A Chevrolet dealership in Minnesota is offering retro redos of any new or used 2014-present Silverado truck.
The idea started when Minnesota car dealer Blake Greenfield took a Silverado in as a trade. His staff thought the truck’s dark green hue would make it a tough sell. But Greenfield had a plan to prove them wrong.

Using his father’s 1973 Chevy pickup as inspiration, Greenfield had cousin Ray’s vinyl shop create a two-tone color scheme reminiscent of the Big 10 special-edition pickups of the late 1970s.
To complete the look, Greenfield had a lift kit installed along with retro wheels, chrome trim and classic badging.
Initially his plan was to use the truck as a promotional vehicle for his dealership. But after photos of it hit the internet and went viral, calls started pouring in from all over the country, and Greenfield decided to offer the conversion to customers.

All-in the conversion costs $5,995, though the dealer will sell you all the parts individually. If you want the truck that started the entire craze, Greenfield also has it listed for sale.
The conversions became such a sensation that another dealer in Pennsylvania started offering their own versions.
Though the 2019 Silverado is exorcising the outgoing truck’s square-jawed looks, dealers are making a strong case for Chevrolet to turn out a throwback truck of its own.
